As president of the Superior Electoral Court, Moraes will be responsible for conducting this year's electoral process, and the task is not easy in times of fake news: he will have to take care of any attack on the ballot boxes during this period.

“We will have to lead [the TSE] with an iron fist so as not to let our electoral system be broken”, said André César, analyst at the company Hold Assessoria Legislativa.

Bolsonaro X Moraes

As a Supreme Court minister, Moraes led cases against Jair Bolsonaro. In view of the minister's actions, the president even made a speech against him on September 7, 2021: “Any decision made by Mr. Alexandre de Moraes, this president will no longer comply. Our people’s patience has already run out,” he said.

Alexandre de Moraes was responsible for the arrest of Bolsonaro supporters – including the federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro Daniel Silveira –, in addition to removing false content from digital platforms.

Presidential candidates at the ceremony

Former president Lula (PT) confirmed that he will be at Moraes' inauguration ceremony at the TSE, in Brasília. President Jair Bolsonaro is also expected at the event, but has not yet confirmed his presence.
