Moro says he will be 'Lula's lie detector' in the Globo debate

Former minister and candidate for the Senate of Paraná Sérgio Moro (União Brasil) stated this Thursday morning (29), on his Twitter profile, that he will follow Globo's presidential debate and will act as the "lie detector of Squid".

“With every lie Lula makes, I will be here to bring the truth. I have experience”, joked the former judge, who also questionor how the PT member would deal with questions about corruption in his government. In the responses to the post, federal deputy André Janones (Avante) provoked the former minister by saying that he should “be writing a CV”.

It is not the first time that Moro has adopted an ironic tone to talk about Lula. When the former president was questioned in Jornal Nacional, the former minister stated on his social networks that he expected firm questions about “Mensalão, Petrolão, triplex and Atibaia”. “If you need help, I volunteer. I have experience,” he said.

Judge responsible for Operation Lava Jato, it was Moro who sentenced the former president to jail in the cases of the Guarujá triplex and the site in Atibaia. The PT member's conviction, however, ended up being annulled by the STF, which understood that the trial carried out by Moro was partial, thus declaring the magistrate's suspicion.

Candidate for the Senate

Moro had ambitions to run for president of the country in 2022 and joined Podemos, at first, and União Brasil, later, with this aim. He, however, emerged as a candidate for a Senate seat in Paraná.

In a fierce dispute against his political godfather, Álvaro Dias (Podemos), Moro has been getting closer to Jair Bolsonaro (PL) Despite having been fired from the Ministry of Justice and having accused the president of having interfered in the Federal Police, the former minister started to link the figure of Bolsonaro with his own image in the campaign.

Saints from the former minister were distributed with the president's image and Moro's social networks published videos declaring support for Bolsonaro.
