Singer Erasmo Carlos dies at age 81

Singer and composer Erasmo Carlos was admitted to a hospital in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. He was rushed to hospital this Tuesday morning (22), did not resist and died.

At the beginning of the month, Erasmo was discharged from the hospital after being admitted with edema.

On social media, the singer shared his routine in the hospital during his nine-day stay, and paraphrased Belchior by saying “this year I won’t die”.

Erasmo Carlos, or rather “Tremendão”, was known for being one of the pioneers of Brazilian rock, and of course, for his partnership with Roberto Carlos. His career lasted 50 years, producing more than 500 songs and hits that everyone knows, such as: “ Além do Horizonte”, “É Necessidade Saber Vive”, “O Bom”.

The singer was one of the main representatives of Jovem Guarda, along with Wanderléa and Roberto Carlos. The musical and cultural movement was huge in the 60s and 70s.

Erasmo learned to play the guitar with Tim Maia and participated in a group with Tim and Roberto Carlos, where they had the famous fight, which is portrayed in Tim's film.
