In the March for Jesus, Bolsonaro tries to retain the evangelical vote

O President Jair Bolsonaro once again participated in the 'March for Jesus' event, held in Balneário Camboriú, in Santa Catarina, last Saturday (25). Bolsonaro arrived accompanied by the first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro, and businessman Luciano Hang, owner of the Havan chain, for the meeting with pastor Silas Malafaia and former deputy Magno Malta.

According to the latest Datafolha survey, Bolsonaro has 40% of voting intentions among evangelicals, while Lula has 35%. In May, the percentages were 39% and 36%.

Topics such as family support, gun defense and criticism of abortion dominated the speech. “We know what’s worth. One side defends abortion. The other is against. One side defends the family, the other increasingly wants to erode its values.”

Bolsonaro who will not accept a result contrary to his victory, “if necessary” – maintaining fears of risks to democracy in Brazil. “Increasingly, I have an army that is approaching 200 million people in the four corners of this country.” The latest Datafolha points to the possibility of Lula being elected in the first round.
