Strikes in Hollywood cause Emmys to be postponed until January

The Emmy awards ceremony has been postponed by four months, the organizers of the event announced this Thursday (10), due to strikes by Hollywood actors and screenwriters who do not present a solution to curto deadline.

The Emmys were supposed to take place in September, but have been postponed until mid-January 2024, Fox and the Television Academy said in a statement.

“We are pleased to announce that the 75th Annual Emmy Awards will air on Monday, January 15, 2024,” said a Fox spokesperson.

The Emmy ceremony is the most important event in the United States audiovisual sector to be postponed so far due to actor and screenwriter strikes. This double walkout hasn't happened in Hollywood since the 1960s.

The last postponement of the Emmys happened in 2001, because of the September 11 attacks.

After more than 100 days of strike, no agreement was reached between the writers' representatives and the studios for better remuneration of the former with streaming profits, nor to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence in the industry.

The actors began the strike in July.
