For WHO director, covid-19 marathon is close to over

The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom, said that the end of the pandemic "is in sight". Last week the disease reached its lowest level since March 2020.

This Wednesday (14), the director-general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, asked governments to accelerate actions to prevent the opportunity to control the virus from being lost.

According to Tedros, last week the number of coronavirus cases reached the lowest level since March 2020.

“We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic”, highlighted the WHO director-general.

Tedros compared the current situation to the final stretch of a marathon. “We can see the finish line. We are in a winning position. But now is the worst time to stop running”, he highlighted.
