PF indicts Roberto Jefferson for four attempted murders of police officers

The Federal Police indicted Roberto Jefferson for four attempted murders. Last Sunday (23), the former deputy shot and threw grenades at agents who came to his home, in the interior of the State of Rio, to comply with a preventive detention order. The charges relate not only to the police officers who were injured, but also to two officers who were in a vehicle and were not hit.

The order that sent Jefferson back to prison was signed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes on Saturday night (22), due to repeated non-compliance with precautionary measures. The former deputy had been under house arrest since January. One of the conditions for keeping prison at home is not to use social networks.

The president of the Superior Electoral Court and minister of the STF, Alexandres de Moraes, stated that Jefferson's conduct, in shooting the police officers, could constitute, in theory, an attempted double homicide.

Soon after attacking the PF this Sunday, Jefferson even repeated the president's motto Jair Bolsonaro: 'God, country, family, life and freedom'.

One week before the second round of elections, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is trying to separate himself from the image of his ally. Throughout the day, the head of the Executive hardened his tone against Jefferson – first he recalled a criminal complaint filed by the former deputy against him for alleged malfeasance; later, he called the politician a 'criminal': “The treatment given to those who shoot at police officers is that of criminals.”
