Federal Police opens investigation to investigate director general of the PRF regarding coup blockades

The Federal Police opened an investigation this Thursday (10) to investigate the stance of the general director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), Silvinei Vasques, in the face of the Bolsonarist demonstrations. The objective is to determine whether the corporation - under Vasques' command - committed abuses with operations in the second round of the election and also whether agents were omitted in the face of roadblocks carried out by coup protesters.

The investigation will be under the responsibility of the PF Superintendence in the Federal District, at the request of the Federal Public Ministry. The prosecutor wants to know if Vasques tried to limit the circulation of Lula voters in the Northeast, a region where the elected president had a greater margin of votes over Jair Bolsonaro.

Since the election results on October 30, truck drivers and other Bolsonaro supporters – unhappy with the defeat at the polls – protests across the country closing highways. Videos circulated on social media showing some connivance between PRF agents and protesters calling for “federal intervention” and an attitude that goes against the Federal Constitution.
