The decision applies to “all types of weapons carrying, as well as the transportation of weapons and ammunition by collectors, shooters and hunters”, wrote Moraes. Anyone who disrespects the order must be arrested red-handed for illegal possession of weapons, ordered the minister.

In the request, the PF pointed to investigations that investigate the financing and execution of violent acts by extremist groups, as well as the performance of digital militias that inflate voters through the distribution of fake news and disinformation.

The PF described in the request o attack on the institution’s own headquarters, following the arrest of indigenous leader José Acacio Xerere Xavante, supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro, at the beginning of the month, and also the attempted bomb attack revealed with the arrest of suspect George Washington de Oliveira Sousa, on December 24.
In the decision this Wednesday (28), Moraes regretted the practice of acts that could be classified as crimes against the Democratic Rule of Law by extremist groups.

“Regrettably, extremist groups – financed by unscrupulous businessmen, criminally and fraudulently exploiting the good faith of several voters, mainly with the use of cowardly digital militias and under the connivance of certain public authorities, whose responsibility for omission or collusion will be investigated – are coming committing acts expressly typified, both in Law No. 14.197, of September 1, 2021, relating to crimes against the Democratic Rule of Law, and in Law No. 13.260, of March 16, 2016, which regulates the provisions of section XLIII of article 5 of the Federal Constitution, regulating the fight against terrorism, including punishing preparatory acts”, wrote the minister.
The temporary suspension of firearms possession does not apply to members of the Armed Forces, members of the Unified Public Security System (SUSP), members of the Legislative and Judicial Police and private security and cash transportation companies.
