Gasoline price in refineries falls 4,9% from this Wednesday

From this Wednesday (20th) the average selling price of gasoline in refineries to distributors will increase from R$4,06 to R$3,86 per liter, a reduction of R$0,20. The announcement was made by Petrobras.

This 4,9% drop in refinery prices is the first announced since December 15, 2021. Since then, the adjustments have always been upwards.

Because of the constant increases – a reflection of the increase in oil prices on the international market and the exchange rate variation – and because he tried, unsuccessfully, to conduct the state-owned company's pricing policy himself, the President Jair Bolsonaro has changed command of Petrobras three times since the beginning of his government

But how does this impact your pocket?

As this reduction will not happen directly at gas station pumps, it is not yet possible to say how much the consumer will benefit.

But starting tomorrow, Petrobras' share of the price charged by Petrobras falls from R$2,96, on average, to R$2,81 per liter.

However, the final price, paid by the consumer, for both gasoline and diesel, is calculated also taking into account taxes (a high burden of federal and state taxes), the margin of distribution companies, which remove the fuel from the refinery and the delivered to gas stations, and the resellers' profit rate.

In recent weeks, fuel sold to consumers has been affected by reduction in ICMS rates, charged by states, in addition to federal taxes.
