Brazilian children's feast day coincides with that of Brazil's patron saint, Our Lady of Aparecida. But do you know when the celebration began?

Child as protagonist
October 12th became official as 'Children's Festival Day' back in 1924, through the institution of the Decree No. 4.867. Not very popular at first, the date gained strength with toy sales campaigns carried out by Brazilian businessmen.
But for little ones, another important milestone is the day 20 November, which in 1969 was recognized by the United Nations (UN) as World Children's Day. The date was created to raise awareness about the group's needs and give visibility to new generations. That same year, the universal children's rights had been declared and recognized by the international body.
