'Succession' fourth season will be the last

A great success for HBO is coming to an end: "Succession" will end with its fourth season, which will debut in March, announced the series' British writer and producer in an interview with The New Yorker magazine.

“I never thought it would last forever. The ending was almost always on my mind”, declared Jesse Armstrong in an article published on Thursday (24).

“There was a meeting with the other writers before we started writing season 4, around November or December 2021, and I said, 'look, I think this should be the finale, but what do you think?' (…) and the decision to end it solidified throughout the writing,” he said.

Acclaimed by both the public and critics, “Succession” is a dark, dramatic and acidly humorous chronicle about a powerful family of billionaires, who fight for control of a conglomerate of companies, especially the media.

Launched in 2018, it has already won several awards, including best drama series at the 2022 Emmys.

The series is inspired by tycoons Sumner Redstone and Rupert Murdoch, whose News Corp group is one of the largest media empires in the world, which includes the Fox network channels and the newspapers The Times and The Sun.
