Racism: comedian's neighbor also says she suffered racial discrimination

After the episode in which comedian Eddy Jr reported on social media that he had suffered racism from his neighbor Elisabeth Morrone, another complaint against her was made on Thursday (20). Lawyer Nayara Cruz told Jornal Nacional, on TV Globo, that she and her son were also discriminated against. On Thursday night, protesters protested in front of the United Home & Work condominium, in the Barra Funda neighborhood, in the West Zone of São Paulo, calling for Elisabeth's expulsion.

“There was another episode where she was aggressive towards my son, who was in the building's hall playing with other children. She called my son a bum and said he wasn’t supposed to be in the building’s lobby, that he couldn’t stay there.”

Whistleblowing

Comedian Eddy Jr gave a statement on Wednesday night (19), at the Racial Crimes Police Station (Decradi). He stated that he was called a “monkey, filthy, ugly, a vulture and a dangerous black guy” when he tried to use the building's elevator with his neighbor and his dog. Eddy temporarily left his apartment and says he has been receiving threats since April.

Elisabeth's lawyer, Fermison Guzman Moreira Heredia, said in a statement, released after the episode reported by Eddy Jr, that his client is innocent and that the disagreements with the musician were not related to racism or any prejudice. According to the daughter-in-law, the video was “completely edited, including to give the impression of racist statements that were never uttered, which will be proven at the appropriate time”.
