The King of Football's conversation with Queen was reproduced in the November 11, 1968 edition of the newspaper The Globe. The queen was 42 years old – of these, 16 were reigning. The visit took place between the 1st and 11th of November 1968, when Brazil was under a military dictatorship.
During her brief visit, the Queen visited six Brazilian cities: Recife (PE), Salvador (BA), Brasília (DF), São Paulo (SP), Campinas (SP) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
According to the Brazilian Ambassador in London, Fred Arruda to the BBC, the trip was “very important”, as it was the “only trip by a British monarch to South America”.
