The social network Parler gained popularity among conservatives close to former United States President Donald Trump. “In a world where conservative views are considered controversial, we must ensure we have the right to express ourselves freely,” said the rapper, who legally changed his name to Ye, in the statement released by the company.

Kanye West has been in the spotlight in recent days, first for wearing a shirt with the slogan “White Lives Matter”, a distortion of the famous “Black Lives Matter”, which symbolized the protests anti-racists in 2020 in the United States, shortly after the death of George Floyd, and for posting comments on Instagram and Twitter considered anti-Semitic.
His accounts on these social networks were suspended after these posts, which referenced conspiracy theories about the alleged influence of the Jewish community. “Ye is taking a revolutionary step in the free speech media space and will never have to worry about being kicked off social media again,” commented Parler CEO George Farmer.
Report by The Guardian (17) today says that Floyd's family is considering suing Kanye West after the rapper commented on a podcast that the 46-year-old man died from drug abuse.

Launched in 2018, the Parler network's popularity soared after Trump was permanently banned from Twitter following the January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol, when the then-president was accused of inciting his supporters to violence. Parler defines itself as “a driving force in the fight against Big Tech, Big Government, censorship and cancel culture”.
