Russia says it intercepted US bombers in the Baltic Sea

Russian authorities announced, this Thursday (25), that they mobilized fighters to prevent two American bombers from "violating state borders" in the Baltic Sea, where a similar incident already occurred this week.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its men identified “two American B-1B strategic bombers in the air zone.”

“The violation of the State border has been prevented,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to Moscow, this operation “was carried out in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace”.

This represents the latest in a series of such incidents in recent weeks in which Russian authorities have reported intercepting several Western military planes.
