US airport websites suffer attack from pro-Russian hackers

Websites at major airports in the United States stopped working in curtos periods this Monday (10) after a cyber attack carried out by a group of pro-Russian hackers. It was a denial of service attack, called DDOS, which means disconnecting a website by overloading it with traffic. The actions affected airports in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix and Saint Louis.

After the sites were shut down, the pro-Russian hacker group known as KillNet published a list of sites and encouraged his followers to attack them.

The DDOS attacks only affected the public part of websites offering information about flights and services, and had no impact on operations. Information began to grow on social media:

Last week, the group KillNet claimed responsibility for attacks against several US government websites and has also targeted other countries that oppose Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

To date, the United States Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has not commented on the case.
