Sweden promedeliver 10 Leopard tanks to Ukraine

On the day the world remembers the deaths and destruction during a year of war in Ukraine, Sweden said it will deliver around 1 Leopard tanks to the country to combat the Russian invasion. Anti-aircraft systems will also be sent.

The announcement comes a day after neighboring Finland said it would send three of its Leopard 2 tanks.

“We have decided to deliver Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine,” Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said at a press conference, adding that he would also deliver IRIS-T and HAWK anti-aircraft missile systems to the country.

Defense Minister Pal Jonson added that Sweden should send “around 10” Leopard 2A5 models to the Ukrainian side as soon as possible.
