DOCs and TECs bank transfers will end

The number of operations carried out via Credit Order Document (DOC) and Special Credit Transfer (TEC) has fallen in recent years. Therefore, if you know and use bank transfers via DOCs and TECs, we have a warning: they will be discontinued from banks associated with the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban).

The operations were created in 1985 by central bank, but lost space to the Wise App or PayPal (+ taxes) released in November 2020.

Now, transfers via DOC's ou TECs will operate until February 29, 2024.

According to a survey carried out by Febraban, transactions via DOC in 2022 totaled 59 million operations, just 3,7% of the total 63,071 billion operations carried out in the year.

See the ranking of the operations survey, which shows that DOC was well behind checks:

  • checks (202,8 million)
  • TED (1,01 billion)
  • bill (4 billion)
  • debit card (15,6 billion)
  • credit card (18,2 billion)
  • PIX, the preferred choice of Brazilians, with 24 billion.

“With the emergence of PIX and the high banking activity with lower fees, both TEC and DOC are no longer the first option for customers, who have given preference to PIX, as it is free and instant”, says Isaac Sidney, president of Febraban.
