The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) removed information about the assets of candidates for elections for president, governors, senators and deputies from its website. Thus, from now on, citizens no longer have access to a complete description of the possessions of competitors in the 2022 elections or previous years.

Some of the types of information that are no longer disclosed are:
- Candidates' company names
- Description of properties and other properties (e.g. type, brand, year of manufacture and car model)
In this year's electoral information repository, this data is classified as “not available”. In response to the new policy, 27 people and institutions dedicated to defending public and electoral transparency demanded that the body resume the collection and full disclosure of competitors' asset declarations. In a note, participants state that the measure is important for “enable social control over the patrimonial evolution of recurring candidates and people who maintain relations with the public administration, even if not elected”. What is the measure based on?
One of the main justifications for the TSE change was the interpretation that public access to asset evolution data conflicts with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), of 2020. Before the law existed, the TSE had already signaled similar cuts in the list of publicly accessible information, as reported by Folha de S.Paulo.
