The West intends to "divide" Russia in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said this Sunday (25), after more than 10 months of military offensive in the neighboring country.

“Everything is based on the policies of our geopolitical adversaries, who want to divide Russia, historical Russia”, denounced in an interview, an excerpt of which was broadcast by a television channel in the country.

“Our objective is different: to unite the Russian people,” he added.

Putin uses the concept of “historical Russia” to argue that Ukrainians and Russians are just one people, a discourse that affects Kiev's sovereignty and justifies the offensive in Ukraine.

“We are acting in the right direction, we are protecting our national interests, the interests of our citizens, our people,” he declared Putin.

The Russian head of state insisted that Moscow is “willing to negotiate with all participants in the process (to find) an acceptable solution” to the conflict.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, traveled on Wednesday (21) to Washington, where he received the promess of support from United States President Joe Biden, including providing the Pentagon's most advanced anti-aircraft defense system.

“Of course we will destroy it, 100%,” he said. Putin, in reference to the Patriot missile battery promehad to Zelensky.
