Latest from Ukraine: Zelensky thanks billions of US aid

The weapons in this package “are an important help in our fight against the aggressor”, stressed the Ukrainian president.

The package does not include the tanks requested by Kiev, but includes 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, a large number of armored personnel carriers, Avenger air defense systems, as well as large and small ammunition, according to a statement released by the Pentagon.

With this latest package, the total of American military aid to Ucrania since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, it amounts to more than US$26,7 billion.

The new aid package was announced on Thursday (19), a day before representatives from 50 countries meet in Germany this Friday to discuss support for Ucrania for the next phase of the war.
