Helicopter crashes in the West Zone of SP and leaves 4 dead

At least four people died, this Friday (17), during the crash of a helicopter in Barra Funda, in the West Zone of São Paulo, according to the Fire Department. According to the corporation, the fall occurred at 14:45 pm between Padre Luís Alves Siqueira and James Holland streets.

The helicopter is a Robinson R44 II, prefix PR-PGC, with capacity for one piloto and three passengers. It is operated by Helimarte Táxi Aéreo and Geoflito Atividades Geoespaciais.

According to Major Yuri Morais, commander of the 2nd Fire Group, the helicopter had gone to Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, to take a group of people and, on the way back, suffered a possible breakdown. There were four adult men, not yet identified.

“They were preparing for landing (on Campo de Marte). Now, only the experts will say the reasons (for the accident), said the major.

Sergio Gegers, Helimarte's lawyer, stated that the company has no information about what caused the accident and that it is providing support to the victims' families.

“The company is here with the director and all the professionals that make up the group, all trained. Let's wait for the report from the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) and the authorities. We don't have any other information at the moment, we don't know what happened, we don't have the cause of the accident. We are providing full support to the families of the victims and also collaborating with the competent authorities. All of the company's aircraft are duly registered, regulated and reviewed with daily monitoring, including from state agencies.”
