'We will recover harmony between the Powers', says Lula after meetings in Brasília

Lula went to Brasília for the first time after the October 30 election, when he was elected President of the Republic for a third term. He said that he was in Congress, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), firstly, to thank the "behavior of the institutions in confronting the violence, illegality and democratic disrespect that was being practiced".

“It is possible to recover harmony between the Powers. It is fully possible to recover the normality of coexistence between Brazilian institutions, which were attacked and violated”, stated Lula in a press conference held in the early evening of this Wednesday (9).

"No one will believe a coup speech from someone who lost the elections. It is up to the president to recognize his defeat, reflect and prepare to run again in a few years. This is what the democratic game is like,” said the president-elect about the undemocratic acts across the country, provoked by supporters of Jair Bolsonaro.

“We are back to governing a country. There is no time for revenge, for raiva, for hate. The time is to govern. I intend to work 24 hours a day, because we have a debt to redeem with the poor people of this country. Brazil will return to normality”, added Lula.

Regarding the assembly of ministries in his government, Lula said that he will only decide the names for each portfolio when he “returns from Egypt”. He will be in the country to participate in COP27, the UN Climate Conference.
