After criticism, Mark Zuckerberg talks about the deadline for the metaverse to succeed: “horizon of five to ten years” 

At an event promoted by The New York Times, the CEO of Meta - owner of Facebook and Instagram - Mark Zuckerberg, said he was confident about the metaverse in the long term. At the event, held last Wednesday (30), Zuckerberg pointed out a period of five to ten years for the metaverse to turn around. The company added billions of dollars in losses after an early attempt to introduce the technology, and now it has been asked about when the bet will come to fruition.

During the virtual interview, the CEO of Meta was questionabout the attitudes taken towards the metaverse. According to him, the difficulties are part of the moment and the proposal.

For Zuckerberg, when a business has no challenges “it usually means that an idea is not ambitious enough”.

Trying to calm the mood of the market and users of its networks around the world, the boss said that Meta dedicates 80% of its time to maintaining applications: Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and others. What's left, according to Mark Zuckerberg, is invested in developing tools for the metaverse.

With R$49,94 billion in losses in 2022 alone, Mark Zuckerberg says he is still confident about the horizons of the metaverse.

Based on the Reality Labs projects, Meta's nucleus for developing the metaverse, he says that the new technology will be worked with “efficiency and discipline” and that “the way we communicate will become richer and more immersive”.
