Central Bank wants to launch project-pilotthat of Real Digital already in March

During a management and business event in Brasília, the president of the Central Bank of Brazil, Roberto Campos Neto, said that the project-pilotthe Real Digital one should be released by the end of this month. Scheduled for 2024, the currency should be an option for tokenized banks with a wholesale focus. In addition to digital currency, Campos Neto also spoke about metaverse and new economies at the event, which took place last Monday (27).

During presentation at the IDP Summit, Campos Neto spoke about the importance of the Central Bank being aware of this new moment in the internet and the economy.

According to him, more and more people are promoting concepts of finance in the digital sphere and the representation of something physical in virtual space.

For the BC president, even virtual reality will be monetized, through the metaverse. For the future, the plan is to highlight more and more innovative business models, with the aim of placing Brazil in a pioneering position when it comes to the digital economy.
