How artificial intelligence is transforming the way we collect debts

In the last week the ChatGPT completed six months after being released. In such a short time, the platform has already revolutionized technology with its responsibilities in personal and professional roles in users' lives. An example of this is a digital billing company that uses an artificial intelligence API to “humanize” the way people are billed. Understand.

We spoke to Thiago Oliveira, CEO of Monest, a firm that does that annoying job of knocking on people's doors to charge them. An information systems professional, Oliveira commented that, above all, he is passionate about artificial intelligence and that he sees the role of AIs positively. Mentioning this is important, taking into account that the chatbot he developed replaces a person who would charge another with an intelligent language model.

According to company research, operational costs using AI fell by 35%. This was the main factor that made the company invest everything in implementing artificial intelligence in its operations.

Before, the biggest problem was the inefficiency of agreements. Companies had problems getting paid and people were unable to pay what they owed.

For the company leader, Monest Artificial Intelligence is the first AI of its kind in Brazil

Now, according to Oliveira, 80% of approaches to MIA, as Monest's AI was named, end with complete resolution of cases. No need for human supervision.

Because she, in fact, can be very argumentative, show examples, help the client, she can bring a lot of arguments that in the day-to-day life of a human who is very busy and has a lot of clients to serve, he cannot be in-depth in each case, and it achieves it through processing speed. Asked why the model solution was so successful, the CEO responded:

“Because she, in fact, can be very argumentative, show examples, help the client. Since in everyday life the human (charged) may say that he is very busy or has a lot of customers to serve, he cannot be in-depth in each case. This way it (MIA) can be efficient due to its processing speed.”

Example of how AI trading works

For him, this would be the solution to combat those old, boring debt collection calls. In a simple chat, the person can talk to MIA, request discounts, generate payment invoices, or even dispute the debt. On the other hand, the call center worker will not be offended or overlooked by debtors.

If the person being charged has a foul mouth, the AI won't even care

For Júnior Bornelli, a Law graduate and founder of the StartSe Business School, this is one of the revolutions preached by AI, replacing the human being in repetitive and exhausting tasks: “he doesn't get tired, he doesn't get hurt, he doesn't have vacations, he doesn't stop. The robot is much better able to carry out certain activities than we are.”

But not everything is perfect. Artificial intelligence can often be innocent. Thiago Oliveira comments that the tool is “running and being validated”, meaning that sometimes it is necessary to change the tire on a car while it is moving.

He cited a case in which “MIA had a debt of one thousand reais to collect, and could give a discount of one hundred reais to the person to pay off the debt. However, the AI ended up being fooled and convinced that one thousand minus one hundred became five hundred.” The problem has been fixed and the chatbot is constantly monitored.

Now, running for eight companies and reaching more than 20 thousand people, the AI that collects money has become the company's favorite. For the next steps, Oliveira says that he is working on voice commands for charging large amounts by MIA.

Will artificial intelligence be able to put an end to “I must, I won’t deny it, I’ll pay it when I can”?
