At a time when the metaverse is low, Roblox records an increase in the number of users

Roblox Corporation, a company that offers a global shared experiences platform, labeled by many as one of the few successful metaverses, has released its operating results for the first quarter of 2023.

Os numbers of Roblox showed strong growth compared to the previous year. The company's revenue reached US$655,3 million, an increase of 22% compared to 2022, and reserves were US$773,8 million, an increase of 23% compared to the previous year.

The platform's average daily active users also grew. DAUs, as these users call it, represented 66,1 million people, a 22% increase from the previous year, while engaged hours were 14,5 billion, a 23% increase year over year. 

The net loss attributable to common shareholders was US$268,3 million, while net cash generated by operating activities was US$173,8 million.

Roblox has hosted experiences from large companies within the platform

Roblox CEO David Baszucki highlighted the success of the company's community of creators in bringing their visions to life on the platform, attracting a growing global user base that spans all ages.

The CFO, Michael Guthrie, highlighted the strong performance in operational and financial metrics in the first quarter of 2023, allowing the company to moderate its investment rate in employees and infrastructure, generating operational leverage.

The result could represent an offensive by the Roblox metaverse. At this time of decline, the concept continues to be discredited by the community. On the other side, there are the hopeful faithful, like the CEO of Epic, who, as reported in the Newsverse, believes that in a few years the proposal will come to fruition.
