In a report, Shopify points to metaverse as a trend for commerce

Shopify, a Canadian commerce company, released its 2023 e-commerce trends report. Research on how “innovations on social platforms give brands and consumers the combined connections they want” shows the metaverse as a highlight for the advancement of commerce in the digital sphere.

In the report on the trends for the year In the field of e-commerce, the Canadian giant stated that a connection between virtual environments and the market could revolutionize the way people consume.

 “The innovations that make the metaverse possible can give early adopters an edge over the competition,” says the report.

Shopify published in the report a nod to the gaming industry that can influence users' shopping experience, and commented that Fortnite in particular has stood out in creating connected and immersive social experiences. The platform has more than 250 million users around the world.

Shopify also pointed out that the augmented and mixed reality market is constantly on the rise. According to the article, one in three shoppers is already using VR to shop.

The Canadian company is not the only one keeping an eye on the metaverse. Companies from different sectors, especially fashion, are investing heavily in the context of the new internet era. Nike, Gucci and Calvin Klein are examples. Other influential brands in the world are also trying to occupy spaces on web3, believing in its turnaround in the coming years.
