Meta presents study showing that metaverse can have significant economic impact

Study sponsored by Meta and carried out by Deloitte suggests that the metaverse could be the successor to the internet.

  • Potential to create immersive experiences that combine the digital and physical world could have a substantial impact on global and local economies, points out the company survey, released last Tuesday (9).
  • The metaverse's expected range of applications is similar to that of mobile technology, including communications, entertainment, education, healthcare, manufacturing and retail.
  • The study explores the current use of the metaverse in different regions and countries, as well as the economic benefits that can be obtained by maximizing its use.
  • According to the survey, the United States is leading the global development of the metaverse, with the potential to contribute between US$402 billion and US$760 billion to annual GDP by 2035.
  • American companies are using the metaverse to establish new revenue streams and grow current ones, as well as witnessing improved operational efficiencies, particularly in immersive VR employee training and enhancing remote work, making online interactions more realistic.
