Metaverse Fashion Week brings fashion giants to the Web3 universe

Metaverse Fashion Week starts this Tuesday (28), and major fashion brands, including Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger and Adidas, are preparing to showcase collections on virtual catwalks on different metaverse platforms. In addition, digital experiences and interactive games will also be offered to visitors. The event will take place between March 28th and 31st, and this year's theme is "Future Heritage", with the aim of connecting tradition and innovation in different aesthetics.

While most events will take place on Decentraland, several brands have chosen the Spatial and OVER metaverses to showcase their designs. OVER, for example, is an augmented reality platform that allows creators to publish, own and earn rewards for their content. Among the companies that selected OVER for this season of Metaverse Fashion Week are Pinko, Gucci, Balmain and Vogue Singapore.

Ao Newsverse, the head of Metaverse Fashion Week, Giovana Graziosi Casimiro, who is also part of the Decentraland team, said that the pioneering spirit of MVFW can develop a new market and include an even larger audience in the fashion scene.

“In one year we’ve shown the world one of the strongest and most obvious use cases for the metaverse yet – digital fashion. After all, we don't all want to look like bland copies of the same avatar in our digital lives. Just like in the real world, we all want to individualize and curate the personal aesthetic for which we are recognized.”

On the final day of the event, on March 31, OVER holds a hybrid show in the center of the world's fashion capital, Milan, with an augmented virtual reality catwalk where digital avatars will showcase designs from established and emerging fashion brands. The event is promoted by Milan City Council and will include a special panel with speakers from Marangoni, Milan City Council, Polygon and PwC Italy.

According to OVER CEO and co-founder Davide Cuttini, fashion was “one of the first industries to recognize the incredible potential of the metaverse and Web3, which open up many avenues for fashion, from design to retail, presenting a huge opportunity for brands, designers and retailers reach consumers anywhere.”
