Worlds of the defunct VR platform Microsoft can be migrated to Spatial

Virtual reality platform Spatial wants to bring AltSpace VR users into its metaverse. Through social networks, the promising platform published a guide on how to migrate data and worlds to Spatial. The measurement takes place after Microsoft, owner of AltSpace, announce the company's closure for March.

Spatial can be considered a success story when it comes to spatialization. With immersive worlds that can be accessed via smartphone, PC, or virtual reality glasses, major brands have already partnered with the company. Now, with the discontinuation of AltSpaceVR, which was purchased in 2017 by Microsoft to enter the fight of technology giants for the new moment of the internet.

With the invitation to the 'dispossessed', Spatial targets a new wave of users, who will be able to bring their worlds to the metaverse. In an article released by the company, a step-by-step guide is offered for people to take their production to the environment. On the AltSpaceVR website, the company also tells its users to download the files and carry out the migration.

“In the coming weeks, we encourage the many creators and developers who are part of the AltspaceVR community to host final events and download their content,” the note reads. 

Spatial, for its part, tries to attract new users: “We understand that it is never easy to say goodbye to something that has been such an important part of your life and we are here to make the transition as smooth as possible. Spatial.io is a powerful and flexible platform and we look forward to seeing how you use it to continually expand your digital reach.” 

Spatial provides step-by-step instructions for migrating environments

In the report released by the company, the user can check a list of what will be needed to migrate worlds and communities to the platform. Remembering that AltSpace users are not required to integrate their data into a new platform. However, those who do not want to lose their buildings can consider migration.
