Nike unveils first physical sneaker developed in the metaverse

Betting everything and more on the turn of web3.0 in the coming years, Nike now announces its first sneaker with interaction with the metaverse. This is the brand's first product developed based on the virtual environment. The announcement was made last Monday (5), and the idea is that the product will be available before the .Swoosh platform, Nike's web3-focused environment released in November.

In total, 19 thousand pairs of sneakers will be sold. Entitled “Cryptokicks iRL”, the treadmill with roots in the metaverse was developed by RTFKT, a company that Nike acquired precisely to think about metaverse projects. To understand better, the sneaker launched in the form of a digital collectible on the platform will come to physical life and take over the feet of the people most excited about the metaverse out here.

According to the RTFKT statement, the sneaker has unique technology and will interact virtually with Nike's digital platforms. Technology in the physical shoe will include automatic lacing, haptic feedback and walk detection.

Nike wants to bring metaverse ideas closer to the general public

Nike's strategy with the campaign is to popularize metaverse ideas in physical space. Who knows, perhaps by making products attractive and visible outside of digital environments, people will feel seduced into entering the spaces provided by the company.

Nike is the first sneaker company to sell the product developed in the metaverse in the physical environment. The shoes will be marketed as digital collectibles or non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFTs can be exchanged for physical shoes that will have four color options.
