Instagram report points to web3 and the metaverse as trends for 2023

Last Tuesday (6) Instagram, a brand from the Meta group, released a trend report for 2023. Within the report, the company highlighted the metaverse and web3 among the interests of Generation Z. The document, titled "Trend Report of Instagram", was the result of a survey carried out with 1200 young North Americans, between 16 and 24 years old, in October 2022.

A search was carried out with young people born between 1995 and 2010 because the company believes that this is the generation that will dictate the direction of the internet in the coming years. Based on social experiences made possible by the internet, this new audience is already working and studying in a different way from other generations since the beginning of their insertion into society.

According to the report, Gen Z believes avatars better reflect body types online

Excited and engaged with topics such as diversity and accessibility, for example, Instagram reported that “67% of Gen Z users think avatars should better reflect different body types, clothes and skin tones in the next year”.

Starting from the point where web3.0 and the metaverse will be part of these people's routine, according to the Instagram report, “More than half of Gen Z social media users plan to get fashion or beauty inspiration from digital avatars, or influencers in 2023.”

Topics such as beauty and finance were also highlighted by young people

In addition to web3.0 and metaverse, young people also highlighted topics such as beauty, fashion, finance and well-being. It is worth mentioning that this report corresponds to research based on a different reality from Brazil, as the young people interviewed are from the USA.
