Upland launches NFT collection of Argentine football teams

Argentine club fans now have a new way to collect their favorite sports moments. Silicon Valley startup Upland, one of the largest blockchain metaverse platforms in the world, in partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and the Professional Football League (LPF), launched a collection of NFTs from Argentine teams.

The collection includes illustrations and videos of goals, special plays, shields, flags, historical moments and shirts worn by players from Argentine first division clubs.

Football digital assets are already traded by the growing community of Upland, and the collection of NFTs related to Argentine football offers fans access to raffles for tickets to see their favorite team, autographed shirts, discounts at official stores and much more. Selling NFTs on the platform's secondary market can generate good profits, especially for the most valuable assets, such as goals and plays.

Since Upland's launch in 2019, users have withdrawn more than US$10 million from the platform through the sale of virtual land and other types of assets on the platform's secondary market. The partnership with the AFA and LPF allows Argentine fans to embrace the web3 economy, which encourages interaction between clubs and fans and creates new business opportunities.

The president of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia, highlights that emerging technologies are an incentive for clubs to adopt a new business culture, and the alliance with Upland is a way to improve the fan experience and diversify sources of profit.

The partnership with Upland also attracted important global sports entities, such as the American football league NFL and the FIFA World Cup, which have already sold millions of NFTs through the platform.
