Ukraine announces reconquest of another village in the south of the country

Ukrainian forces have reconquered the town of Piatikhatki, on the battlefront in the south of the country, the Deputy Minister of Defense, Ganna Maliar, announced this Monday (19).

Eight locations were liberated during the month, since the beginning of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, with 113 square kilometers of territory reconquered, according to the deputy minister.

In the south, Ukrainian troops “advanced up to seven kilometers deep” into Russian positions, Maliar highlighted.

On the eastern battlefront, “the overall intensity of fighting fell last week” and the Ukrainian army “advanced in several directions,” he said, without revealing details.

The Ukrainian army also announced that it shot down four Kalibr-type missiles and four Iranian-made explosive drones launched by Russia overnight.

“The missile firing was carried out from a submarine in the Black Sea and the drone firing was carried out from the east coast in the Sea of ​​Azov,” a statement said.
