Burning fossil fuels represents 87% of global CO2 emissions, says report

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions related to energy use reached a record 39,3 billion tons of carbon equivalent in 2022 – an increase of 0,8% compared to 2021. The conclusion is from the 72nd edition of the report published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) carried out by consultancies KPMG and Kearney, and Heriot-Watt University, sponsored by the oil company BP.
