Because the Curto News?
Soon after the birth of the Curto News, in the second half of 2022, a new chapter in the technological revolution that has been transforming our lives over the last four decades emerged with enormous impact: artificial intelligence.
Aware that this tool has the potential to help us – in a decisive and accelerated way – to transform the world for the better in critical areas such as sustainability, education and health, we decided to focus a large part of our content production on AI and all its ramifications.
But we don't just want to talk about artificial intelligence. Our ambition is that the Curto News becomes a cutting-edge platform for developing AI applications that can benefit both producers and consumers of content, in the most diverse segments, in Brazil and beyond.
Artificial intelligence represents a new era full of opportunities for good journalism. It must democratize access to quality information, combat fake news and, consequently, strengthen democracy. It will create new models and habits of information consumption that cannot yet be envisioned. It is a revolution that is just beginning.
It is obvious that AI can be used for negative and malicious purposes. But this is true of any new technology, since the industrial revolution and beyond.
It is up to us as a society to ensure the responsible and ethical application of AI.
What We Believe In
The pillars of Curto News, of course, remains the same since its founding:
- We are withpromerelated to democracy, freedoms, sustainability and inclusion;
- We are convinced that Brazil needs a new political/economic/social agenda, very different from that practiced in recent decades;
- Brazilian society needs new leadership, across all political spectrums withpromeheld to democracy and the rule of law, averse to populist practices, polarization and hate speech;
- Brazil needs to abandon the anachronistic labels of left, right, etc., so corrupted in our history to sell false ideological positions and personalist and opportunist projects.
- We desire an efficient State in combating the immense social inequalities in the country. To achieve this, Brazilian public space needs to stop being hostage to patrimonial practices and interest groups that have been draining public resources for centuries.
And, it is always good to reiterate, we anchor our conviction in the power of journalism to be an open window to society. This way, people can monitor what is happening in the world and, well informed, make their choices.
