2023 starts hot and already breaks temperature records in Europe

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) states that the day before and the first day of the year were marked by an exceptional increase in temperature on the European continent and warns that the heat is expected to increase regardless of the greenhouse gas emissions scenario.

Despite it being winter in the Northern Hemisphere, some regions are experiencing milder weather, atypical for this time of year.

Many European countries recorded temperatures above 20°C. Furthermore, national and local temperature records were broken in several countries in December and January: in Bilbao, Spain, thermometers registered 25,1°C on January 1st. ♨️

And the predictions are not good. Recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Ipcc) stated that the temperature in Europe should continue to increase, regardless of the emissions scenario greenhouse gases. 😖
