What should I do if I suspect my dog has been poisoned by the suspicious treat?

In addition to emergency medical procedures, guided by a veterinarian and staff, the owner of an animal that has ingested a Bassar Pet Food treat – whatever the brand – must IMMEDIATELY save the packaging so that it can be inspected by the police at the case investigation process, guides lawyer Fábio Balieiro, from the firm Theodoro & Balieiro Advogados, representative of some guardians in court.

“It is important that the owner files a police report at the consumer police station in his state, recording the death and hospitalization of the dog, indicating that he consumed the suspected product”, advises Balieiro.

In addition to helping to clarify the case, recording the incident will serve as a starting point for a compensation action. To do this, the guardian needs to look for a lawyer. “If the contamination of the products is confirmed – by the competent bodies – it is up to the owner who lost their pet, and had hospitalization and medication costs, to request reimbursement for the amounts spent”, he explains. “Apart from the moral damage, there are other possibilities for financial compensation. There is an owner who spent 35 thousand reais in one week trying to save his pet.”
