Ozone layer will have recovered in four decades, says UN

The ozone layer that covers the stratosphere and protects the planet from solar radiation will have been reconstituted in the next four decades, if it continues on its current trajectory — states an international scientific report released this Monday (9).

Plans advocated by some scientists to inject sulfur into the stratosphere to combat climate change, can, however, reverse this trend, warns the text compiled by experts from the United Nations (UN), the United States and the European Union.
