'Carta da Terra' analyzes the management of environmental resources in Brazil

The Earth Charter, published this week by Earth News, debates the issue of resource management. It tells about an unprecedented study, led by economist Alessandra Cardoso, regarding the funds that allocate — or should allocate, by law — resources to the environment. The series called “Pathways for the Financing of Brazil's Environmental Policy”, notes that Brazil created an entire architecture for financing programs, not only for inspection, but for promoting sustainable prosperity - however, this system was dismantled, the funds were emptied and distorted.

The study analyzes the following funds, which allocate resources to the environment: National Fund for the EnvironmentAmazon Fund, Climate Fund, Green Climate Fund and Eastern Amazon Fund.

Reports regarding the first two have already been published. The others will follow, as well as a study on “Socio-environmental Budget: beyond the Funds”, and you can find them this page

The Earth Charter signals that, even with the dismantling of the system, this legal and institutional architecture still exists and, therefore, can function again as soon as there is political will.

The conversation with Alessandra Cardoso will be available in 3 parts – on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday – on the channel Earth News Earth on YouTube and podcast apps.
