'Carta da Terra' talks about the windows open to Brazil at COP27

The Earth Charter, published this week by Earth News, analyzes the windows open to Brazil, during COP27, so that the country can once again occupy its rightful place as climate superpower. The publication cites the proposal for the formation of a kind of “OPEC of tropical forests”, by Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the aim of coordinating the sale of credits for carbon capture and the initiative of the Colombian government, which suggested the creation of a block of Amazonian countries.

THE 'Earth Charter' also recalls that, due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and sanctions against Russian natural gas, the world has returned to burning coal – which goes against the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this context, he states that Brazil and other countries with tropical forests can be compensated for increasing their carbon absorption capacity. But he reinforces: first we have to combat the deforestation e burned in the national territory – which have increased in recent times.
