'Carta da Terra' talks about carbon credit sales projects

In Carta da Terra, published this week by Earth News, Lourival Sant'Anna talks about the conversation she had with forestry engineer Janaína Dallan, CEO of Carbonext: a company that manages more than 1,6 million hectares of credit sales projects carbon in the Amazon Forest. The specialist explains how the process to generate carbon credits works, all its steps and criteria. She even talks about how the relationship with indigenous communities in the region works.

Lourival also mentions the exclusive interview he did with Jennifer morgan, representative of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for climate, for the CNN Brasil channel. On that occasion, they discussed resuming the allocation of resources for the Amazon Fund and on the green hydrogen.

🌳 Other highlights of the week:

  • Carbon data: the World Bank launched a metadata system with information on carbon credit sales projects, in agreement with the Singapore government. The platform is the Climate Action Data Trust.
  • Biodiversity COP: the UN is promoting the 7th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity between the 19th and 15th of this month (COP15), in Montreal, Canada. 
  • Green jobs: Brazil and the European Union each account for 10% of the jobs generated by the production of renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectric power, biofuels, solar and wind.
