Agenda 2030 wins Rio and discusses a more sustainable world

The event highlights the urgency of the topic, provoking action for now. National and international names participate in the forum.

Next week, Rio will host the first phase of the Global Experience, which brings together the private sector, academics, institutions and society in general. Two agendas stand out: the Conference, with the participation of Brazilian and international experts, and the Expo, open to the public and free, with an extensive exhibition, cultural, dialogue and children's program. The meeting will discuss the urgent need for behavioral change to ensure a more sustainable world.

One of the most anticipated names at the event is Adam Kahane, director of Reos Partners. He became known worldwide for helping the South African community in the transition process from apartheid to democracy and also for mediating negotiations between the Colombian government and the FARC.

O Curto found information that Kahane will moderate a day of meetings until December, in Brazil, with artists, activists, politicians and businesspeople. In a presidential campaign that tends to be turbulent, under the effects of polarization, the specialist's participation should bring a positive balance to the country.

In an interview with UOL, Kahane pointed out that, for conflict mediation work, it is important to recognize the possibility of transformation in others. ''For me this is a crucial conclusion: it is possible to work with people we don't agree with, understanding each other and trying to figure out what we can do together, without letting other things destroy everything''.

Another prominent participation in the Global Experience is that of John Elkington, considered the “father of sustainability” and the concept triple bottom line, which defends companies' actions through a mix of environmental, social and financial aspects for healthy development, which gave rise to the acronym ESG, so much talked about today.

The conversations are based on the 17 Development Goals

Sustainable – SDGs indicated by the UN for 2030.
