🚘 The European Parliament approved the draft regulation that prohibits the sale of new vehicles with gasoline and diesel engines from 2035. The European Commission presented the proposal for this regulation in July 2021, in a project that generated intense negotiations between the Parliament and the European Council, which represents the bloc's countries. ➡️ 1/3 of the companies most linked to the destruction of tropical forests have not defined a policy dedicated to combating deforestation – this is what a survey by Global Canopy revealed. According to the study, 31% of the industries with the greatest influence on the risk of deforestation, through their supply chains, do not have a single commitment against deforestation caused by commodities. 🌳

➡️ The president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, announced that the Amazon Fund has already received R$3,3 billion in donations, such as R$1 billion from Norway and R$200 million from Germany. In total, the fund, managed by BNDES, accumulates R$5,4 billion, with R$1,8 billion already contracted.

➡️ Even if in a reduced form, the Amazon continues to be destroyed at the beginning of 2023. In January alone, 198 km² were devastated: an area similar to the loss of almost 640 football fields of forest per day. Although this destruction was 24% lower than that recorded in the same month in 2022, it represented the 3rd largest deforestation for January in 16 years. 🌳
