Influencer fathers are concerned with daily tasks and care for their children – changing diapers, bathing, making food, helping with schoolwork, among others – which are traditionally linked to mothers. They not only get their hands dirty, but also share their experiences on the internet as a way of educating other parents to change their stance on parenthood.

Unfortunately, daily care for children is still not a reality for the majority of Brazilian men who are fathers. One research carried out by the Promundo Institute, in 2019, showed that while the majority of parents reported playing with their children frequently (83%), a smaller portion cited cooking (46%) or bathing them (55%). So, the father who rolls up his sleeves and dives into active fatherhood is still the exception.

Leandro Ziotto is the creator of 4 Daddies, a platform for producing content and knowledge about fatherhood, masculinity and the care economy.
