COP27 diary: see what was highlighted on the 5th day of the Climate Summit

There are 600 fossil fuel lobbyists at the COP this year – a record number – which represents an increase of more than 25% compared to last year. The second largest delegation this year is the Brazilian one, with 574 people.

On a social network, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg also took a stance regarding the presence of lobbyists. “If you want to fight malaria, don't invite mosquitoes,” she said.

Other protests also marked the day. Featured are those in solidarity with murdered and imprisoned environmental defenders around the world, including British-Egyptian political prisoner Alaa Abd el-Fattah.

Agreements in the Middle East
