September was already announced to be a critical month in the issue of fires, registering 18.374 outbreaks in just one week, almost 10% more than in the entire same month of 2021.

The environmental NGO Greenpeace stated in a statement that the increase in fires is an “announced tragedy” and is “associated with deforestation and land grabbing”.
