Brazilian startup wins “Nobel Prize for Sustainability”

Brazilian startup Eco Panplas - responsible for a project that keeps 17 billion liters of drinking water clean annually by collecting and recycling lubricant packaging - won the “Water” category at the 23rd edition of the Energy Globe World Award. Considered the most important environmental award in the world, it recognizes companies in 5 categories: Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth. In total, more than 30 thousand sustainable projects for environmental problems were registered.

The startup's system allows the recycling of plastic lubricating oil packaging to occur without using water or generating waste, which draws attention to the socio-environmental benefits that impact the entire production chain, society and the environment. The separation of oil from plastic occurs 100%, since the Eco Panplas produces recycled resin to make new packaging. The oil, in the process, is also reused and sold to recycling companies.
